Elon Musk Says ‘Use Signal’ After WhatsApp Privacy Policies Alter

After a break, Elon Musk takes a jibe at Facebook again. This time the Tesla CEO has come forward to remind all the WhatsApp users to switch to Signal as WhatsApp tends to update its privacy policy.

Statista recorded a whopping number of two billion monthly active users on WhatsApp (as of March 2020).

Elon tweeted an app named ‘Signal’ that directs people to choose it over WhatsApp. The tweet signaled the privacy policy updates in integration with Facebook over data sharing. So far, reports suggest that Signal and Facebook use the same end-to-end encryption protocol.

People started hopping on the new messaging app ‘Signal’ in no time. With time, people realized that the app was not ready to handle the load from the sudden influx of so many users. Therefore, many users found it difficult to receive a verification code to sign up for the application.

Later, Signal posted a tweet stating, “We are working with carriers to resolve this as quickly as possible. Hang in there,”

Soon after Elon’s tweet “Use Signal,” its Signal Advance’s rally received around 5,100% within three trading days only. This gave the overall market valuation of no less than $390 million in no time.

Here is something for you for those who don’t know what’s Signal.

Signal – Meaning

Signal is a cross-platform encrypted messaging application developed by the Signal Messenger and Foundation. The app requires seamless internet connectivity to send and receive one-to-one and group messages instantly. One can send images, files, videos, voice notes, etc., to people in the contact list.

It has been developed using different programming languages like – JavaScript, Java, C, and Objective C. The app is made for Android, iOS, and Desktop.

Last year, in February, Elon Musk asked people to delete their Facebook accounts. He referred to the platform as “lame” and then wrote, “Facebook sucks.” This all happened when the AI feature of Facebook clashed. With this, Musk posted a few pictures of his company’s Facebook page and said that he does not like this social media platform particularly.

Meanwhile, Facebook’s new privacy policy will be effective from February 8, 2021. With this, users will have the liberty to delete their account and then re-using it again.
